David N. Myers was born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1900. He worked his way through high school and earned an accounting degree from Dyke College, a local business college, in 1922. He accepted a position in accounting with the Francis Byerlyte Corporation, and subsequently became president and owner of the company, later known as Consolidated Coatings Corporation.
